Re: Yearlong County Contest
Don't you think that's about enough, Tony...you're violating your speed limit!
Re: Yearlong County Contest
The Kalisiin Express was going full steam. I just wanted to keep up with the pace.
That picture was taken in the parking lot of Casino Arizona, just a few miles from where I live. I'd never seen a 7 mph speed limit before. I've lived here for almost 3 years. This was the first time I'd been to the casino. After living in Reno and Las Vegas for a total of 13 years, I tend to avoid casinos.

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Jesus Christ, Tony, is there no end to this? You are burying us all!!
I'm beginning to wonder if even the handicaps will help!!
I'm getting lots of hits lately, but, damn it all, they are all in counties already freaking taken!!
You have virtually ZERO competition out West, Dave sure isn't competing with you all that much...I'm beginning to wonder if there oughta be some sort of penalty on you to even things out!
We will see what the handicaps do...

Re: Yearlong County Contest
The handicaps will help. I'm just hoping I don't get completely screwed because of them. This pace can't continue for the rest of the year. Most of the "easy" counties have been gotten. A lot of the new counties I'm getting now are from my vacation. Those hits will continue for awhile, but the new counties from them won't.
Like you, I don't want to run away with this. I'd rather lose a close race than win by a landslide.

Well...the thing is...the easy ones will also dry up for everyone else. So I think the handicaps MAY help in that regard.
I intend to use handicaps plus weightings, initially...and look at the stats again at the end of September.
This year is going to be tough, because there aren't any real-world numbers I can use to handicap with.
Next year should be a bit easier.
Although, with Jackson being the rising star he is becoming...he could become a trouble spot for next year's contest...as all the bills he's entering NOW com into play....and he would be handicapped on last year's totals when the slew of hits come in.
We just have to see how it works.
I have always been clear I wanted a close contest where anyone might stand a chance to win...and I still feel that way.
Every attempt I have made to make it such...every rule change I have done...I have done with majority approval, and out in the open.
I'm hoping next year will b much smoother. But we shall just have to see what gives.
