Re: Yearlong County Contest
It's just "city", Tony. VA is odd that way. There are 95 counties and 39 Independent Cities, of which, Lynchburg is one.

No county should be included then? I wasn't sure. Markus has it as Lynchburg and Kalisiin has it as Lynchburg City. From your posts I knew VA had some unusual city/counties, but unsure of how to write it.

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Hey, seriously, folks, I want to float an idea here...what does everyone think of having a First Place prize of $40...and a Second Place prize of $20 - instead of winner take all?
Remember: Yes, currently tony and I are leading the pack...but once the handicaps kick in...it truly ought to be anyone's game!!

Good...can we have some input from the other players?
So far, Tony and I are cool with this.
Might make the game a bit more fun if there were two prizes.
We certainly have enough in the prize pool to do it. Wish we could even have a third, but th pool just isn't big enough. We'd have to do $30, $20, and $10...but that would suck.

In 2011, Fordmustang0 has a hit in this county. Dr. William Stamper has three. And Darrel has four. But since I am the first to get a hit in this county that is in the county contest. . .
I claim Santa Clara County, CA.

Regardless of whether you were the first in the contest to get a hit there or not....what matters is WHO POSTS FIRST. In this case, it seems you have.
but suppose...just suppose...Markus had gotten a hit there two months before you....but hadn't posted it. YOU would still get this one according to the rules.
You snooze, you lose.

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Well, it appears we have a majority on this, then...Tony, Dave, Jackson, and myself have all approved the idea of a first and second place prize as described, so that is what it shall be.
First place $40
Second Place $20
If any new players join us, the First place will go to $50...then the Second will go to $30, and then the First will go to $60. That covers us for up to three more players.

Heck, why release a pair of 20's when you COULD release 40 ones? 40 chances at a hit versus only 2 chances.
Re: Yearlong County Contest
Meh. I don't worry about it too much. I'm pretty casual about this game.Kalisiin wrote:dctim wrote:Gosh - and I was just in Queen Anne's a few days ago. I only released a pair of 20's there for gas.Kalisiin wrote:I'm gonna sneak out tim's way and grab

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Ok, tim. Heck...as you all mighta guessed by now, I'm a pretty competitive sort.
Not that I'm a poor sport when I lose...but I DO rag on people who are beating me or who are even close to doing so.
