Nice. And yes, it was Clarksville...Indiana. which is in Floyd county, just across the river from Louisville, KY.
But a hit is a hit.
I'd like one I could count right now, because Tony just pulled ahead of me in the County Contest...by one-tenth of a point!! And this is without the West Bonus, which he was okay with having taken away from him, as he totally does not need it. the fact he caught and passed me, and is now in 1st place in the contest proves he does not need that bonus...so I am glad he was okay with not getting it.
Sorry I couldn't give you Prince william, VA, Tim...but da roolz are da roolz, and Markus beat ya to it fair and square.
Me, I just got a hit in Archibald, PA...which is in LACKAWANNA COUNTY, PA...I am STILL smarting over the fact that you, Tim, beat me to Lackawanna in the contest, since Lackawanna borders my own home county of Monroe.
But all's fair in love, war, and TD contests, eh??

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Actually, it was on March 3...and I had to monkey around to find it. The way you posted that hit was not normal, and it evaded my radar. I was busy dealing with Markus' huge 32-hit claim at the moment you posted and it seems to have been lost in the shuffle. no biggie, I found it and YOU DID POST FIRST...so you do get this.Diamondback Dave wrote:Diamondback Dave wrote:Wow, surprised that with all the bills Markus has floating around TX that he has not gotten Dallas county yet...but I just did...

I'll put it in the next map update.
NOTE TO SELF - MAKE SURE TO GIVE DAVE CREDIT FOR DALLAS, COUNTY TEXAS IN NEXT MAP UPDATE, IT WAS HIT ON MARCH 3....AND HE DID POST FIRST...

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Hey, nice to see some Jackson Stamper claims!!
I still think Tony is going to kick all our butts on this one...he really has a hugely unfair advantage which will be balanced out by next year's handicapping...can't do anything about it this year...unless someone thinks up something.
The problem is, this year, I have to do weighting factors, but in Tony's case, he just blows normal assumptions out of the water.
NEXT year, though, when I have some real figures, I can handicap everyone based on their last year performance!
That way we don't have the same freaking winner every year. But Tony is probably going to win this...even I can't catch him, neither can Markus...every time I get close, he posts up another one...what the hell can I do??

Re: Yearlong County Contest
See what I mean??
This is gonna end up a Tony runaway...and there isn't a goddamn thing I can do about it.
I wanted everyone to have a fair chance, and I don't see how to make this happen anymore.
Crap. I REALLY wanted to avoid a runaway...I don't care who wins, but I wanted everyone to have a fair shot at it. even without the West Bonus, Tony is in the lead and is gonna bury all of us.
At least I'll manage to get some real stats so that next year, I can actually handicap this thing fairly so everyone WILL have a fair chance!

Re: Yearlong County Contest
I know...but it frustrates the HELL out of me...because a runaway is EXACTLY what I wanted to avoid. And it looks like there's no way in hell to slow down the Tony Express.
Next year, perhaps I can handicap properly...but it still really ticks me off for this year. Sorry, I can't hide this, it REALLY ticks me off. It would be a bit better if there were at least a second-place proize so that SOMEONE other than Tony would walk away with all the marbles. Not that I have anything against Tony...it's just that Tony is going to bury us all and create the very runaway I wanted to avoid.
If there was a second-place prize so that at last SOMEONE else - and I don't care who...had a chance to get at least something...I'd feel better about the whole thing.
I just feel lousy, because I promised everyone who joined this contest a FAIR CHANCE...and I don't see ANYONE...not even me or Markus...having a fair chance with the Tony Express.
Not unless there is some further way to handicap Tony without negatively impacting others.
He has his numbers in just such a way that he benefits most where it ought to impact negatively and it doesn't.
I just hate seeing everyone else in this contest having no chance. I so badly want to handicap this more fairly, but I don't see how I can. Unless we could project after six months, and handicap out from there...I just don't know. All I want is for everyone to have the fair chance I said they would have.
