Hey, nice one....that is your home county, eh? Well, you can also go ahead and post your other counties from 2011 that are, as yet, unclaimed. The best way to find them is to go to "Achievements" in "Your Reports" from the main page. Then, select 2011 from the drop-down menu. It will show you all your new, notable hits for 2011...including bill links.
Check the spreadsheet (link on page 1 of this thread) and, if the county is still unclaimed, then you can claim it. I looked at yours already, and you have roughly 12-15 you can post. I noticed you have Ingham County MI....that one, I'm 99% sure I beat you to it. So you would not get to claim that one. But check the Spreadsheet.
Anyway, welcome aboard...and I am very sorry for making an incorrect assumption regarding your gender, I should have checked your profile!!

I recruited her to join us...Folks, talk to others about joining us...the more the merrier!
Does this now make us the "Jackson Five"? (Does this make Kalisiin a later-day Jermaine? If so, I claim Tito.)
Welcome to the contest - I'm glad that you were able to retrofit some hit counties.

I think I'd actually rather claim Janet.

We're getting popular! Tony has now also jumped aboard, per an email I got from him...that means the prize pot should be up to $60!!
And, while I am at it...
I will claim Sullivan County, NY

Re: Yearlong County Contest
Generally, I try not to announce a specific date update for the Spreadsheet, so that people do not go "sandbagging" - that is to say...purposefully enter...or withhold from entering bills...in order to affect their weighting...since the weighting is updated when the Spreadsheet is.
Of course, in the end, it really doesn't matter, because the final weighting will take place on Dec. 31.
Right now, I am holding back to give Tony a chance to post his claims up and then will do a Map and Spreadsheet update, okay?

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. It's been TOO long since I've been on the forums. I hope to make a dent in the leader board. Sorry it took me since yesterday when I joined to get this together. I'm working nights now, so had to get some sleep yesterday before work last night. Anyway, my county list will be up shortly.

Re: Yearlong County Contest
No on Dade, Tony. Markus beat you to it...Look under "Miami-Dade" that is how it is listed in the Spreadsheet.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Re: Yearlong County Contest
I have just updated the Spreadsheet. Don't panic, I wiped out the stats page on purpose, because I am re-doing the whole thing. Once I am done doing THAT, I will update on the first page of posts.
Finally, someone is going to give me a run for my money...Tony!
Folks...I have to ask ALL of you not to hold onto hits forever, and then post them in one big glob!! Folks who just joined, this is okay and understandable. BUT...part of the point of this is to keep people coming to the forums, and get to know each other...because if you come to the Forums, likely enough, you'll post something or reply to someone else's post.
Also, there's now six players in the game, and IF YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE!!
First post gets it...regardless of when the hit was, even if it was in 2011. If, for example, I have a hit in Yazoo, Mississippi (I don't - but if I did) and the hit was Jan. 2011 - and Tony hit it in March 2011...AND HE POSTED FIRST...then he would get the credit for it, and I would be out of luck (the point being I ought to have posted it when I got it back in January, see?)
Now I am re-doing the stats...then I will try to get a map done soon. I'm getting miserable with our one-color map, so I decided to completely re-do the map and I am going to use the colors of the person who got the hit. that way we will have a colorful map.
Please, folks, don't hold 'em...post 'em if ya got 'em!! At last try to post them up on a weekly basis, huh? k??
Thanks, and you all rock!!
We finally got us a contest here now!!

Re: Yearlong County Contest
I'm working the stats, and this looks like Tony gets a total runaway because of the West Bonus...intended to give a boost to Dave. It is creating a runaway situation that we wanted to avoid. I'm reducing the West Bonus to 1.1 if there are no objections.
EDIT: Justification for this - The old formula gave Tony a Weight factor of 1.3034...against Markus having 0.8471...seeing ads how Tony has so many bills entered, and so many hits...this could not be justified. I think the new adjustment is more fair to everyone.
OK...the Stats sheet is done now. Just for everyone's ability to compare, I ran a chart at the upper right showing what each person's score would be at 50 claims with their current weight...and...with their current weight, how many claims they would need to achieve a score of 50.
I think everyone will agree that this is now fairly well balanced...except poor Markus really gets jobbed here.
But the 1.4 West Bonus was just too high when Tony jumped in the game, it threw everything off. A 1.1 point bonus for West makes for more even and fair weighting.

Well it was making me miserable, too.
So you shall have a colorful map.
I finished the stats. I had to adjust the West Bonus. This one I did by FIAT...which I can do since I'm running the contest. I hope there is no major objections from a majority of players...I think the justification for my action is appropriate.
However, I still invite any comments regarding this change to the weighting.
Pleas make all future comments regarding this in the Discussion thread...not this thread, thank you.

Re: Yearlong County Contest
I have the new map almost done...just a few finishing touches...should be up tomorrow.
Re: Yearlong County Contest
The new map is up and looking good!
As a result of totally re-doing the map, I was able to ascertain, thanks to the addition of a couple of players, we have hits in all states, except AK, HI, KY, MS, MT, NE, RI, and VT.
We already have DC hit and PR has a hit in it, but no other territories yet hit...and no AA, AE, or AP Military Hits, either. So we could use hits in Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Palau, Northern Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands, and Federated States of Micronesia.
Anyway, enjoy our new colorful map!
