TrackDollar is down

The site has been down for several hours now, and telnet doesn't seem to be working either

Sadly, every person who had a hit streak going and every person who had an entry streak going saw that streak end yesterday.. All because the server went down :-(

1and1 has several different hosting options.. Which one does TrackDollar use?

Apparently, telnet. That is what Markus mentioned above, anyway.

I, myself, have had fairly good luck with Daily Razor...where my gamesite is hosted.

I gotta agree with Aaron, here...this server's down too often, the server company should be fired for their lack of decent service.

Yes, I am searching for another company already. Before I moved I had a mirror server in my house, but now, with COX net, they blocked port 80 for residential accounts so that you cant run a web server unless you buy a business account. I had to learn about that on sunday when I tried to forward TD to my local server. :-(

TrackDollar uses a VPS II Service from 1and1

Checking GoDaddy right now and I am going to check the Daily Razor Service.

I would like to setup 2 VPS from different companies, mirror the database online on 2 server, so that just changing the DNS entry would be enough to go back online.

TD needs a VPS with 1 (better 2) GB memory, Windows Server 2003 or 2008, able to handle MSSQL.

daily razor does not offer Windows VPS hosting, only Linux.

The reviews, yes, of course you will only find complaints in a review site, if you are happy with your service you don't search for a review site to show how happy you are. The complaints for 1and1 are mostly about the billing and canceling.

GoDaddy e.g. has no free customer service for VPS, if something is wrong you pay for a call. Did somebody here ever use GoDaddy?

I am thinking right now to transfer the server back into my house, get a business line, an uninterrupted power supply etc, then if something breaks I do not need to wait 24 hours for an admin to check the VPS node.

Godaddy is an Arizona company and has high reviews from users and workers. They treat their employees extremely well and I wish I could work for them. I have never used them personally, but have seen many websites hosted by them, including the Arizona Medicaid system. I think you would be pleased with their performance and we don't experience many outages here because of weather...
