New TD stamp
So my WG stamp was coming apart and I got a new one. I liked it so much I got the same design for TD in a different color. All I had to do on StampConnection was put the different URL in the special instructions section. The letters look only a bit different. That site keeps getting the job done.
I had the Classix P05, one liners with water based ink. I now have the iStamp handwritten rectangular with oil-based. The TD are purple and orange respectively. I don't have any purple refill. I have plenty of red refill for the same model WG stamp, and will switch the inkpads.
I didn't want separate inkpads (hassle) or an exposed stamping surface (vulnerable to damage), especially useful when traveling.
Red, purple, blue, orange or pink have good contrast with bills. I want different colors for the two sites to help tell my stamps and marked bills apart.
I was having trouble getting ink to adhere to older bills, namely 1976 $2s. Fading seemed to be a problem in general. Oil-based worked for that.
The box fits front left on $1s and $2s, front right on other denominations. It doesn't really fit on the back except for the sides of the painting on $2s.

Re: New TD stamp
What kind of oil-based ink are you using and do you also get it from StampConnection?

Re: New TD stamp
increased hit rate is a big part of the idea. I wonder if a one liner hiding in the margins is too subtle. Also, two colors and two designs might have more of a chance of drawing attention to one of them.
Sometimes one stamp fits better, sometimes a different stamp does.
my raw hit rate is going to suck anyway because I love stealthing or marking with another site, but I do want improved performance on the bills that are TD marked.
I use the standard iStamp ink that came with it, and I'd buy those refills when the time comes.

My Opinion
A one-liner is way, way, way too subtle.
My suggestion for a minimal stamping style would be:
But for my dollars and my hit rate (19.8% - and that's way understated - "real" hit rate on singles will be north of 30%), that's not enough.
Aim higher!

Re: New TD stamp
The designer stamps seem too geared to $1s. I may try one of those if I feel like getting another one anyway, but I didn't want to buy and keep track of a bazillion stamps. I only take one of each site with me when I go out.
PS
You've said before that your real hit rate is even higher - how so?
Getting your own bills back? People entering them on WG?
Is there another user who gets tired of seeing your bills? Even if actually hit, I understand bonus points for hits from the same user are eventually limited.
You'd be near Electric Red in particular.

Re: New TD stamp
Dollars entered but not yet spent. No chance of being hit, thus dragging my hit rate way down. My hit rate and my TrackDollar Points suffer because of that, but it's still how I prefer to do this hobby. I take the long view regarding my stats.
There was a thread created soon after I started that was very unwelcoming here to people who do this the way I do, with recommendations made and considered on how to thwart my participation. I wasn't named explicitly, but the scenarios discussed mirrored my activities to a T my first year or so here. There were suggestions made that people who enter lots of bills with few hits shouldn't be allowed to use features of the site and curtail their success until they had proven themselves (by someone's arbitrary criteria in lieu of actual knowledge). TrackDollar's Welcome Wagon looked a lot more like a steamroller instead from my vantage point in 2012. I've gone from having my contributions' legitimacy questioned to being maligned for being too successful. You just can't win with some people! As a newbie, it took me a long, long time to get my hit rate to catch up to some of the leaders here in that category, simply because they had been around longer. I'm glad the whole set of ideas petered out before something was done to discourage me enough to stop. I would have been much better off not continuing to read the vulgar drivel being posted there. Oh well. Live and learn.
My first seventeen months of entries have hits/entries rates all north of 20%, with seven of them over 30%.

Electric Red (or anyone else, for that matter) hitting too many of my bills is not an issue.
As for the stamps being geared to singles, yeah. But that's a huge percentage of the bills I enter.

Re: New TD stamp
Yeah, hit rates are time sensitive
I always have some bills that haven't been circulated yet, but apparently not the amount that you do.

Probably true. But virtually all of my entries are destined to be marked and spent normally to get broad circulation. That's why I'm counting on past success translating into strong results in the future.

Re: New TD stamp
I have different methods than you do, but I'm also consistent. I figure it's a matter of sleepers.
Re: New TD stamp
Something broke on my old stamp, so changing it to another color couldn't happen.
Sometimes orange doesn't contrast well with main green or the background colors, the dark blue for WG does better.
