Outages Only
Please post here if you experience an outage. The site Admin is working several tracks so that he is notified.

Came down sometime after midnight Eastern.
There was a clue it was going to happen. I was entering an uncirculated strap around 11:30, and the multi-entry page was giving me errors on every third note indicating that I had already entered the note. I wound up having to enter the whole strap one at a time. Each time I've had that happen in the past, it was a precursor to the site going down.

Re: Outages Only
Travelling today, so yep, the site's down again. First symptom: says valid ZIP is not valid in middle of multi-entry page entry. Then required me to log back in.

Re: Outages Only
I get "Internal Error, please email to support team" whenever I try to log in, even after closing and reopening my browser. Also happens when trying on my phone. So it's not something with my desktop, which should stay logged in anyway. Usually when the site's down it doesn't load at all.

Your cookies may have reset (or been deleted). I successfully loaded the site, but it did not remember that I was online earlier (before noon EST)Alan From Rochester wrote:I get "Internal Error, please email to support team" whenever I try to log in, even after closing and reopening my browser. It seemed like too mcuh of a coincidence that the cookie expired now, so I didn't think it was that.
Can't log in from library computers either.

Site came back online less than 5 minutes after I informed the Admin.

Re: Outages Only
Dunno if this is the right place for this...but WHY do we seem to have so many outages?
I'm wondering if the cause can be determined, so that it could be addressed....so that we don't have outages so often.

Re: Outages Only
At one point (and perhaps even now), the hosting company 1and1.com was where TrackDollar was sitting. I had some limited experience with 1and1 some years ago, and it seemed to be (1) lower end, price wise and (2) for more geeky computer guys than how I would define myself.Kalisiin wrote:Dunno if this is the right place for this...but WHY do we seem to have so many outages?

I have been wondering if it would be a good idea (1) price wise and (2) limited/no downtime wise to move all of TrackDollar to the Cloud. From what I can tell, the front-end (bill entry) is tiny. There are a number of things that could be done to minimize the size and complexity of the back-end databases. The reports could be served on an as-needed basis as calls to pre-existing queries.
One of the things that could be done on the database end is a "temporary" storage of entered bills. Storing 15 minutes (or an hour, or a certain number of entries worth, or whatever) worth of entries temporarily online until they can be committed to longer term storage. Something along this line would cut down on loosing a particular entered sequence number when a miss-key happens and you have to delete that bill. A temporary buffer would also prevent those who enter 5 bills than immediately hit them all.
I could probably go off further on my own geeky tangent, but I'll spare y'all.

Re: Outages Only
Personally, I understood very little of what you said, tim. But, anything that results in fewer outages - I am in favor of.
Site Up, but Cannot Enter
"Internal Error, please email to support team" when entering off the multi-entry page.
Just got done entering ~800 bills, then got this error.
Tried to email support team and got "Access violation at address 0042A224 in module 'Httpserver.exe'. Read of address 00000010".
Tends to be a pattern for the site sliding toward another outage.
