Hi and hello,

as for the Bill Count.

The bill count in the menu is showing the amount of unique bills.
The site wide stat shows the amount of Bill Entries. This is because it is a total of entries of all users.
That means automatically that the bill count for 0 hits in site wide stat equals the amount of unique bills since the last hit entered to any bill is always a bill with zero hits for the user entering the hit for somebody else.

Lets say you have 1000 bills in the system and 100 hits then you have 1100 Entries but 1000 unique bills.

The Bill Entry Page:
Yes this is an error and needs to be fixed. So far I only tested this page with entering 20 times same value, mostly to enter a stack of 100 ones in order.

Thanks for letting me know, hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow night.

Hi,

I updated this morning the bug fix for the Bill Entry Page, please test.

Now the explanation how to read the Bill summary page. There is always a difference between "Hits" and "Bills with Hits".
Lets say, we have 1000 bills in the system and 100 hits, then these hits could be 30 1 hit,20 2 hitter, 10 3 hitter.
That would 30+2*20+3*10=100 hits, but the bills with hits is only 60.

The Bill Summary Report by denomination has two column titles: Hits and Bills with Hits. Right now:
Hits: 876
Number or hits
0 Hits 22364 (Matching the menu of the left 22364 Total $122261)
1 Hits 704
2 Hits 63
3 Hits 11
4 Hits 2
5 Hits 1

Denomination totals are
Hits 876
Bills with Hits 781
Now 704+2*63+3*11+4*2+5*1=876
So we have 876 Hit entries on 781 Bills.

Then again check Bill report denomination Bills entered, Total is 23145 compared to unique bills 22364, the difference is 781, what is the total amount of Hit entries.

Hope this explains everything.

I probably programm this tonight and it will show tomorrow.

Okay,

I programmed during lunch break, lol. New Version is updated and online. Check the new site-wide display.
I also added User amount and the last 3 hits of the system.

You're awesome, Markus! Always such a quick turnaround! I like the new stats in the site-wide box, and noticed earlier today that we can see the three most recent hits. Pretty cool

And thanks for explaining the math behind the hits, bills entered, etc. Everything became clear once I read through your explanation, and to be honest I felt a little dumb for not "getting it" before Smile

Take care

Sorry to bug you again, Markus, but I just had a thought. You explained to me how to read the bill summary page, and although I understand it now, I still think that it can be a little misleading (some of the wording) at a quick glance. For example, as I understand it, "Bills with 0 hits" is supposed to signify unique bills which I don't think is exactly straightforward. I have a suggestion for that if you don't mind my posting it here:

(Total) Unique Bills: XX,XXX
Bills With 1 Hits: AA,AAA / XX,XXX
Bills With 2 Hits: BB,BBB / XX,XXX
Bills With 3 Hits: CC,CCC / XX,XXX
Bills With 4 Hits: DD,DDD / XX,XXX
Bills With >= 5 Hits: EE,EEE / XX,XXX

just my thoughts.. What's your opinion? I know it's your site and your vision, so I don't want to offend you with too many suggestions Smile

Hi,

I am changing the text of this report with the next update.
However, the text Unique Bills should not show in the hit list.
I just explained that the amount of bills with zero hits always matches the amount of unique bills.
The unique bill display is the stats on the left menu.

The next update will say "Bills with x Hits:" what should make more sense to everybody.

Thanks for the idea.

Markus,

Found a problem in the Bill Report - Zipcode box: I noticed that all New Jersey zipcodes are only 4 digits instead of five

Bug Listing Empty "Hits" vs. "Bills With Hits"

Post  sends2aaron Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:49 am

Hey Markus,

It looks like the number that pops up in the menu on the left (see picture) is incorrect. The number of actual hits totals 1040, but the number that you have showing, 940, is the total bills with hits.

You do mean for the pop-up to show total unique hits, right?

true confusing,

however, the menu popup is always unique bills. I changed the design of the bill summary a bit. Now it shows both totals in top row. Total entries (sum of all user pages) and the unique bills.

Am I the only one who is confused by this? Take these two questions, for example:

1.) How many times has a bill been hit? (Hits)

2.) How many bills have been hit? (BillsHit)

Let's say Bill1 = 5 hits
Bill2 = 2 hits

Then the answer to question #1, which is what your popup is designed to answer according to the way you've worded it, is 7.. Not 2, which is the answer to qeustion #2

Hi,

true, wrong wording, if you find more let me know.

Changed the wording in the popup already. I guess with the next update I will just show both Hit Values in the Popup.

Bug Listing Empty Copying denom & series malfunctioning

Post  sends2aaron Fri Mar 05, 2010 6:24 pm

Hey Markus,

I've been noticing that on the multi-bill entry page, for every denomination the series does not copy down properly. No matter what you select for Bill #1, all of the others for some reason will copy to the highest series for that denomination. If I set $1 - 2001 for bill #1 then bills #2-20 will be 2006.. If I set $2 - 1976 for bill #1, all the rest copy to 2003A, and so on.

Bug Listing Empty Negative travel times?

Post  sends2aaron Wed Mar 17, 2010 12:38 am

Hey Markus,

These five hits have negative travel times for some reason. I entered all five of these bills on March 16th, and subsequently (anschließend) they were hit on March 15th.

Seeing that I'm interested in programming, as you know, what causes an error such as that? If the answer would reveal confidential information about how this website works, and you're not willing to share, I would understand

I noticed a problem with the e-mail notifications. For some reason, the link for the hit is missing the period between the www and trackdollar. Not all denominations do this, though, but the one's deffinately.

Yes,

first of all: you are talking a PERFECT german lol!

about these hits:
TrackDollar is using the local time of the computer entering the bills. I was just hoping that pretty much all computer out there auto update the clock from the internet, however, it looks like some people still run their machine with a wrong date. lol

Guess I have to reprogram the time entry to read the time zone and calculate the difference between server time zone and the entry zone. Just need to check how easy it is to get all the day light saving periods for all zones. Need to research a little bit. I am going to change the dates for these hits to March 16.

Tschüß

Just ran into another problem. With this showing entry #0...seems I am missing some entered bills around this date or all on this date.http://www.trackdollar.com/report.htm?url=BB4922312E3D223D2E3D57252462266436637E72&sess=00D66074AD]hit

This creates a scary possibility:

"The Barron" created thousands of fake entries from a zip code where "it" was not actually located. You were able to correct this problem by scanning your database and matching IP address with locations.

If someone sets their clock to September 14th, 2009 today and enters perhaps 900-1000 bills, how would you ever find out that they maliciously(boshaft) entered incorrect data?

Does your error-checking software scan for time/date too?

Hi,

already now only a difference of PLUS MINUS 1 day to server time is allowed.
I just need to add the time zone check to confirm the date of the location.

@Diamondback

For the missing dot, I never saw this missing dot, is it missing in the link itself so that a click on the link fails, or is it missing in the display of the link.

Please let me know.

I picked a random 30 hit notifications and didn't see this in any of them.

Seems that if a dot was missing, the link would not work
