Interesting, considering I've never had a 2009 series bill pass through my hands.. http://bit.ly/9FNAbC

This is where some serious programming may have to happen. When the system is doing its "series change" logic, it may have to check valid Series/FRB/Block combinations in order to check every combination.

Of course, such a system would not be fool-proof. The K-B combination has occured in EVERY $ 1 Series since 1988.

There is a check system in place that corrects series? I saw this on another tracking site and it always seemed to cause more errors than solve then again I only saw the complaints.

Hello everybody,

yes, I added this message on the TrackDollar Server, so that you can see if somebody did use the "change the series" service while entering a hit.

We do need this service, because:
e.g. 3 times I got a donation from TrackDollar user 20 $1 bills each. In these 60 bills I entered for other user I found the total of 2 errors. One time a wrong series, one time the bill was stamped but not entered.

Without the Series change program we had 2 bills in the database, one 1st entry, and another bill with same serial and another series from a guest, wondering why a bill is stamped but nothing to track.

So the series change does make sense. If then again a series change is wrong for sure, well, an email to me might help, also another hit on the same bill might correct the complete travel report to the right series.

Also: The series change service defaults to confirm that the original 1st entry series is the right one.
So in this case the user actively clicked on option two confirming that that the bill is stamped and that 2009 is the right series!

Markus

about the error proof:

it will be easy to add a BlockLetter/Series check to TrackDollar entries, 1st entries and series change service.

However, this cross check table (for every series and den the highest allowed BlockLetter) needs to be updated constantly, whenever new bills are printed.

@Tim: Since you provided a link once, do you know if there is any table out there to use for a check routine?

Oh and by the way: the error I found (series change during entry of a donation). Well, I discovered that the total of 12 bills in order were entered from this user with wrong series.

Markus

I have almost mistaken a 2006 for a 2009 on a couple of occasions, but there's no way I could have/wold have mistaken a 2003A for a 2009. They look nothing alike, and I sort my bills by series before entering them.

Aaron,

of course this guest entry is wrong, most likely it is a 2006 bill and this guest needs better glasses.

Blockletter "B" is not printed yet in 2009, I think.

I am going to change this entry to 2006 for you and we just wait for the next hit to come.
Okay?

Here is the link: http://www.uspapermoney.info/ - it would be somewhat useful.

You might want to specifically check: http://www.uspapermoney.info/groups/ and the "G" link for each denomination and series for the full serial number range.

I will start compiling a spreadsheet, if that would be helpful.
