New Contest for June, 2010

Hi everyone,

I've really enjoyed the contests Tim has sponsered, so I thought I'd do one of my own. The winner will receive $10 and will be open to any TrackDollar member, not just to Forum members.

All you have to do is get the hits in the most new ZIP codes next month, and you win. So, if you get a hit in a ZIP code no one, site wide, has gotten a hit in before, you get a point. Most points win. Hits between June 1-30 count toward the contest.

I'll be checking hits each day after work, so should be able to get a post out most days to let everyone know where they stand.

Good luck to everyone. I hope we can set new TrackDollar records for new locations.

I'm lookin forward to this. With two trips in June, I will hopefully get a lot of bills in circulation from several different locations.

Memorial Day weekend - visiting Goshen, VA - Zip 24439. Attending the Centennial Camporee at Goshen Boy Scout camp (Camp Ross for Webelos). I don't expect my cash to stay in that "neighborhood". A couple thousand campers will likely get my ones as change.

June 16-21 driving to Cleveland, OH via Rochester, NY and back. I will be able to ENTER bills into the system from at least 2 new Zip Codes.

At the risk of seeming arrogant, I think it'd be fair that I remove myself from consideration for this contest. Cool idea though, i'll be curious to see who wins it! My guess is that you'll be paying yourself $10 next month :-P

Hey Aaron,

I really don't think you'll run away with this. You get more hits than everyone else, but most of those are in ZIPs that have already been hit. You do have more bills out there than all of us, so that may give you an advantage, but those bills have been circulating all that long. Markus, Tim, and Dave have had their bills circulating longer which gives them many more opportunities for hits in remote locations of the US and the world.

Also, I don't plan on making any trips out of the Phoenix area next month. I won't have anymore of an advantage with this contest than anyone else. However, Markus, Tim, and Dave are all three planning trips out of their home states next month. This might give them the edge they need to win this.

But, I could be wrong. I will be interesting to see what happens and keep track of how many new ZIPs we get.

I hope you decide to stay in the contest. And if you run away with it, so be it. I hope you'll give me 10 hits in AR.

Just 10 and a half hours into this contest, I claim first blood with New Zip 20705.

Congrats Tim. However, Darrell has now tied you for the lead with a new ZIP of his own.

I know I'm not going to win this but I'll give it a shot. I had a hit in New York yesterday, not sure if its a new zip or not though. But of all the times for a hit it comes in at around 830pm on May 31st. LOL. If it came in today that wouldve been perfect but, oh well.

Granted, I don't have many bills out there, only just a hair over a thousand. The majority though aren't marked though since I still don't have a Trackdollar stamp. I still intend to get one but the way things have been going for me lately, I have no clue when I'm going to be able to order one. So for now I'll just enter any spare bills I get and hand write on them. Hand writting the url has worked well enough so far, getting me 16 hits.

Honestly, Tony. I only posted my hit earlier to keep this topic going and to make the contest more fun. I will look forward to your updates whenever they occur. However, I do think it would be a good idea to stay on top of this so that you are not swimming in data analysis later in the month.

I completely agree with you. I've made a list of all cities with the ZIPs, along with the totatl number of ZIPs for each state, current through yesterday, May 31st. I'm checking each hit against this list, and then cross checking that against total numbers of ZIPs for each state. I have a seperate list that has the new city, the new ZIP, the user who got the hit, and how many hits that user has. I'll post the user and the number of new ZIPs each day. And for those of you in the Central and Eastern time zones, it may be a little late in the day. I don't get home from work until about 4pm Pacific.

Good morning everyone,

After Day One of the contest we have a four way tie for 1st place with one new ZIP apiece. Tim got us started with Beltsville, MD 20705, soon followed by Darrell with Sells, AZ 85634. And with a single hit, we get Crispy and mtnbozo (a one bill participant to TD) with New Castle, CO 81647.

And as of this writing, we have a five way tie, but I'll leave the details of that for tomorrow. . .

It should show all we need for this wonderful contest.

@Tony: It should help you to keep track of new ZIPs, still you will have to click on every bill in this report to check the 1st entry user and keep track of the contest points.

my feeling is that a new user in a new TrackDollar area has very good chance to win this, e.g. fordmustang0 in California.
My bills are around for a long time and I hit most of the common ZIPs in my area already, same for Aaron.

I agree, Markus. So many local ZIPs have been covered for both you and Aaron. It's just about the same for the three of us here in the Phoenix area. EJKorvette, fordmustang0, and larryp563, I believe, have a good chance of winning this. Also, WI isn't saturated with hits, so if some of Matt's bills found their way to the Milwaukee metro area or into truck stops on the interstates, he could have a good chance. Lot's of what ifs and lots of time left. It's going to be fun to see how it all unfolds.

Ok, everyone. I have a few extra minutes before leaving for work, so am able to type this up. Drum roll please. Here is the daily contest update.

Six new ZIPs were added yesterday, June 2nd, for a total of 10 for the month. Joe Mac started it off with Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Aaron was next, with his 1st hit of the month in our contest with Pleasant Hope, MO 68725. Markus also had his 1st contest hit with Mesquite, TX 75150. Aaron comes back with his 2nd and 3rd new ZIPs with Little Rock, AR, and Chouteau, OK 74337. And to close the day, Tim gets his 2nd hit with Great Falls, VA 22066.
