¡TRIGGER WARNING! - Snowflakes Beware - Likely Offensive Politics Enclosed
I got one of the funniest user notes I can remember this week:
CVS in Michigan. Condition was fairly decent. Steven T. Mnuchin refused to sign as Secretary of the Treasury IN RESPECTABLE CURSIVE. A refusal of decency is not surprising during this time in American History.
"refusal of decency" for not writing "IN RESPECTABLE CURSIVE"? And I think I can safely assume the reference to "this time in American History" probably references President Trump and not the failure of Cats at the box office, but I'll allow that it might just as well be the House Democratics impeaching the President, however unlikely that would be given the context.
But really. Our current Secretary of the Treasury didn't use "RESPECTABLE CURSIVE"? Has the hitter forgotten about Timothy Geithner? You remember him. He's the nominee for the same office who cheated on his taxes, got audited and caught by the IRS (the same org he was later confirmed to lead), but didn't make good on his back taxes until he was nominated for the post. Here's the link from a very sympathetic source documenting that story, just to be fair.
Tax Cheat or Disrespectable Signer? Who would you rather have showing the way for his agents auditing your taxes?

Near the time of the first currency with TG's signature, there were "tax cheat" stamps available. Some who participated in this hobby used them.
Then there was a whole kerfluffle about Jack "loopy" Lew, whose original signature was nixed because nobody could read it because of all the curls.
People are going to gripe. I think that is why Twitter was invented so that they can do so in real-time.

I like the Jack Lew signature that looks like a stretched out slinky. I wanted them to go with that.
As for snowflakes, answer me this: Why is it the ones who want to take my guns are all "triggered"? Why do they use that term?

That is an excellent point.
But I'll just make up an answer to your rhetorical question.
Because they imagine they feel like they were run over by a horse when they're insulted by something that was not intended to be insulting.

I found it interesting that three years in to the Trump presidency that the Federal reserve was still printing $5 bills with Obama's secretary of treasury name. it was not until a few months ago that they printed $5 2017 series. Last time I looked they are still printing 2013 series $50 and $100 bills. When Obama was elected, 2009 bills were printed in all series in less than six months.

Hmm, I'm not seeing that ....cylon wrote:I found it interesting that three years in to the Trump presidency that the Federal reserve was still printing $5 bills with Obama's secretary of treasury name. it was not until a few months ago that they printed $5 2017 series. October 2017 was the first of the 2017 Series ($ 1.00) with the Carranza-Mnuchin signatures, 9 months after Trump's inauguration.
February 2010 was the first 2009 Series ($ 1.00) with the Rios-Geithner signatures, 13 months into Obama's first term.

The BEP often is months (or even years) behind the administration change due to how long it takes them to (1) need new currency of a particular denomination and (2) get the plates engraved and installed to actually print the currency.
The BEP prints the backs of currency as the first step of a 3 or 4 stage printing process (George & Tom are 3 stage, the others are 4 stage), so it is not uncommon for the BEP to have pallets of partially printed currency sitting around waiting until they need the fronts printed.
The Series is usually dependent on the year when the Sec. Tres. and Treasurer of the US obtain their office, thus "Series 2009" has to do with when Rios-Geithner got their posts.
