BEP is again (sporadically) publishing monthly production

Post  dctim on Tue Jul 30, 2013 12:12 pm

After many, many months of not publishing anything, the BEP caught up through April 2013.

Today, they published May and June 2013.

I wonder when we get 2013 $1 bills.

It all depends on how quickly the printing plates wear out. The BEP is pretty well known for not retiring a series until they have used all the capacity from the plates they already have in stock or on the line.

So, either the 2009 Abe plates are nearing the end of their useful life and/or the BEP knows that they will need fresh Abes in certain areas of the country in the next 1-6 months.

I'm sure the Ones will be along soon enough. We will likely see several more Block Letter turnovers for many of the Federal Reserve Banks.

If I were to make a prediction:
A - Boston will finish "D" and, perhaps, "E".
B - New York will finish "I" and "J".
C - Philly will finish "D".
D - Cleveland is likely done at "E".
E - Richmond is done at "G".
F - Atlanta will get to at least "P".
G - Chicago reportably is already at "H".
H - St. Louis is done at "C".
I - Minneapolis is done at "A".
J - Kansas City will finish the rest of "C".
K - Dallas is a coin flip to finish "G".
L - San Fran will get to "P", "Q" or "R".

NOTE: There are 96,000,000 notes for each FRB/Block combination.

As it is now TD is not yet set up to accept 2013 bills, not even Abes.

I let Markus know about this as soon as I learned it. In the past, he has added the new Series when the first user attempts to enter it.

That's true. I think I was the first to try to enter a 2009 two here. Markus was quick to add it when I brought it up. So it's a quick fix when the time comes.

Maybe currency nerd FOIA requests got their butts back in gear.

Indeed. How far behind where they, 2 years? Sheesh. At least they are caught up. I'm looking forward to the September report and more 2013's. Too bad they made Jack Lew change his "loopy" signature - it was much cooler than the version that is actually being printed.
