Not sure why it was. I didn't think it was offensive or anything. I do think what her face over reacted to your response. Definitely not the way to attract new users.

All the post said was " There is an error on your map. Can you find it". Nothing offensive about that. I'm not sure why you acted the way you did. It just seemed like constructive criticism to me. I don't get bent out of shape when I make a mistake and some one brings it to my attention.

Notice the bold.
He did not specify what error he thought existed.

CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would have been: "Hey, gee, I found an error on your map, and here is where it is...and hey, thanks for all the hard work you have done on this."

Does anyone here appreciate exactly how much of my time I freely give to maintaining this? Not that I am complaining, or that I mind doing it...but a simple THANK YOU once in a while would be nice.

Bottom line...it is not WHAT you say....IT IS HOW YOU SAY IT.
The WAY in which he said it - came across as inflammatory...and if you can't see how...then you're not being honest with yourself.

Seriously, I don't think I am being unreasonable here. Think about it, Jackson...how would YOU feel...if you spent hours of your time, with no monetary recompense...to produce such a map...and then someone comes along and dumps on your work? the WAY in which he posted...was dumping on my work. Had he used the approach I outlined above, my reaction would have been very different.

Basically,
A. Whatever error he thinks exists...should have been specified, so that it could be fixed.
B. It REALLY should have been done privately.
C. Lacking the privacy...since it was posted publicly...a "thank you for all your work" would have been nice, and gone a long way towards changing my reaction to what WAS posted.
